Hello Crush,

Right about now, I am on the last leg of my Camino journey with girlfriends. When that wraps up, some will be heading to Lisbon for a few days and me and one of my girlfriends will be heading home, with a stop in Madrid.

I pulled together for you all of the stories that you clicked the most on over the last six months. Thank you for being such generous, loyal readers, CRUSHes.

I’ll be taking next Saturday off to regroup, and will see you again on Saturday, November 2nd.

Can’t wait.

Thinning Hair. First I Freaked Out, Then I Did These Things That Work. By Dish Stanley

A few months ago, which was a few months shy of me turning 60, I noticed a lot of hair coming out in the shower and when I brushed it. And not just for a couple of days, but for a couple of months. I had my annual physical around that time and discussed it with my Primary Care Physician. After answering a battery of questions, she surmised it was most likely (yet another) symptom of menopause. “God, help me,” I said over-dramatically. “I have gotten in shape, lost a bunch of weight and bought myself a number of pretty new date dresses. All to buck up for turning 60. And now I’m losing my hair?”

Extended Encounters: A Series on Long-Term Love. By Lisa Ellex

Her one-night stand lasted three-decades-long story, but we want to hear YOURS. In her column, Extended Encounters, Lisa Ellex talks to couples who have been together for upwards of thirty years. If you and your partner are among the fortunate few whose relationship has been witness to seven presidential elections, 19 wars, a global pandemic, and Keith Richards falling out of a coconut tree then Lisa would love to hear from you lisaellex@gmail.com

"Lucy and Tony"

When a squirrel abruptly brought Lucy (a hair salon owner) and Tony (a retired lineman) together, everyone thought they were nuts (pun intended).  After 37 years and some very dark days, the couple still feel the same excitement for each other as they did on that fateful day their worlds (literally) collided.

Lucy and Tony did not meet in the typical way of most couples of their generation. There was no drunken meeting in a singles’ bar, no sweaty dance at a disco, no flirty encounter beside the workplace water cooler, and no awkward blind date. Their introduction was the result of a rush hour car accident that was caused by a squirrel.

Three Things I'm Crushing On. From Crush Reader Mieke

In this series, readers like you share recommendations for the things they love the most, right at this moment.

  1. Moerie Ultimate HAIR Growth Spray

The Moerie hair line is one of the first that I can say works! The growth spray is not at all heavy or oily, and the ingredients are excellent. I originally got it to try on my horse’s tail which is quite thin and damn, if it isn’t working on me, too. It is all natural and contains a plethora of vitamins and minerals.

  1. Buddy Biscuits

These are the perfect size , teeny, dog treats, just to give randomly a couple special times a day to your beloved dog. With Only 2 calories each ( the teeny size), a cute ginger man shape and mixed flavors these are my after walk treats for my 2 smallish dogs. Fresh market carries them and now some retailer pet stores are starting to also.

  1. BOBO’s Dipp'd Oat Bars

Whole Foods and Home Goods carry them and they are showing up in more regular stores having been around a few years and gaining popularity. I believe the original product is the stuffed oat bite. The new item is the dipped oat bar. They taste great to me and go in my “healthy treat” container. I will eat an oat bite, 150 calories, sometimes in the morning before a horse show as it is small but will keep my stomach full, ring mostly oats , they taste good, and have wholesome ingredients.

When I open your newsletter I usually go right to see what people are crushing on and have bought several of the favs! I guess consumption is my jam 😳

TOPIX. On Separate Bedrooms.

Being post 50 has always been that point when we begin to realize that life is getting short. Too short to worry about what other people think. A turning point where people begin to craft the kind of friendships and romantic relationships that actually work for them, inside the lines (or out). TOPIX is our way of getting opinionated, courageous conversations started on what living and loving really looks like at this stage.

A Bedroom of My Own, Next to His. By Dish Stanley

Separate Bedrooms Allowed My Boyfriend & Me to Feel More Like Romantic Partners Than Roommates

Dish, your favorite jeans on me - the ones you say hug my ass perfectly - they are still in the dryer. Should I come over now — in a less ass-hugging pair — or wait for your favorites to dry? Regardless, I’ll want you to want my ass you sexpot, so … your choice. Please get back to me immediately on this obviously urgent matter. X, Hungry Buns.”

Gabriella lives in a small apartment in a large city. She recently retired as Director of Youth Services at a metropolitan library and plans on spending her days traveling the world.

When my friends were busy deciding on colleges, I was busy deciding how to live my life to the fullest.  When I announced to my parents that I would be taking a “gap year” (we didn’t call it that back then!), my father said he could only offer his blessing if I “got a good job” while taking the time to decide on which school I would attend.  My mother passively agreed.  At seventeen-years-old, I wasn’t quite sure what “a good job” was, but I was certain that I wasn’t ready to make an academic decision that could impact the rest of my life.

PrimeCrush & Chill: Steamy Films Worth A Re-Watch. By Christian Pan

In this series from Christian Pan, we hook back up with our favorite ex's--as in classic steamy movies worth a re-watch.

Body Heat (1981)

Starring: Kathleen Turner, William Hurt, Richard Crenna

Released: August 28, 1981 (USA)

Basic Plot: A small-time lawyer thinks he is helping a beautiful woman murder her husband so the two can run away together, but she has other plans.

In a tiny town in Florida, Ned Racine (William Hurt) is a lawyer with a reputation: sometimes, he´ll squeeze or bend the law to make it all fit, for him and his clients. Restless with women and hungry with ambition, he thinks he's going to enjoy some no-strings-attached sex when he meets the beautiful but married Matty Walker (Kathleen Turner). But when he discovers how rich her husband Edmund (Richard Crenna) is, and how badly Matty wants him dead, Racine thinks he's being the hero when he proposes murdering him, collecting the money from his estate, and then run away together. Too late, Racine discovers that Matty´s made him into the fall guy, and that this beautiful woman is far more cunning than he initially thought. As the cops get closer and closer to putting him in the frame, and as Matty continues to make her plans to take the money and run, will Racine be able to confront her in time?
